Bar Piquette

I just opened this to start working on the post but, I seemed to have finished my last sip of coffee at the same time and everyone knows one simply cannot write without a beverage on hand. Should I review alcoholic drinks I consume, too?? Just turn this whole blog into opinions about different things. Isn't that essentially what a blog is? Or what people go to Google to rea Oh my goodness... I digress... I am going to my fridge and cracking a beverage and then we will get back on track!

~Several hours later…~

Now that I have something to sip on, where was I…

Bar Piquette @ 1084 Queen St. West, Toronto
“Wine & European-inspired small plates served daily at a laid-back haunt with [year-round] outdoor seating.”

I have recently been introduced to and obsessed with Skin Contact/Orange Wines and I noticed this place had a few that piqued my interest! This spot also does “small plates” and that’s just what I was in the mood for! Perfect, I’ll try it!

I invited a good friend of mine so we could try a variety of plates and wine! I can tell you right now, I know I will definitely be back! Excellent wines paired with the perfect sharing dishes. Chefs kiss. Let’s get into it…

We started off with a glass of wine each. I tried to go online to their website/menu to get the names of the wines we order but, unfortunately, their menu changes so often, it's not written or posted anywhere! Sorry, hehe! We also decided we would start with warm olives and the burrata; two things that are pretty consistently delicious and hard to screw up.

Both of these dishes were perfect, as we both imagined they would be. The burrata comes dressed with honey & chili's--Perfection, hot & sweet. We decided more food was absolutely in order. The next things we decided to try were the East Coast oysters and the 3 Cheese Plate (my friend and I had been talking the day before about how badly we’ve been craving cheese lately…)!

Before the oysters and cheese had even arrived we had decided we’d order one more round of food but after eating the oysters and all that cheese we decided it might be best to go for something small. We thought about dessert but we were both still in the mood for one more savory thing. We decided the last thing we would order would be the Duck Liver Mousse. Thankfully it came pre-portioned on their own individual pieces of bread/crostini, which ended up being the perfect amount to end the evening off with.

I am not a super huge wine fan and I don’t drink a ton of wine but, this place really had some interesting wines that would keep me coming back again and again! The staff were super attenative and knowledgeable about what they were serving and offering! I would definitely recommend coming here with a friend (or few!) and ordering a bottle of wine and some plates to share, you won’t be disappointed! We could have ordered everything on the menu, I know I’ll be back to eat and drink some more!!

Until then, cheers!
