OCTOBER MOVIE MONTH: Gerald's Game

I'm very excited about this review because I'm banking on this movie being good... I mean, it is a Stephen King novel. I'm currently writing this having only seen the trailer. I think I'm ready...

Fast forward to the future..... also known as the end of the film....*ahem*

Today's movie review...

GERALD'S GAME

Synopsis: "A woman accidentally kills her husband during a kinky game. Handcuffed to her bed with no hope of rescue, she begins hearing voices and seeing strange visions."

This movie came out in 2017. IMDb gives this movie a 6.6/10. This a psychological horror film. You can find this movie on Netflix.

The trailer...

Before we get into it... let me just say, THE SYNOPSIS FOR THIS MOVIE IS TRASH.

Now this is where I'm conflicted. I want to make a better synopsis but I also don't want to spoil the movie? Except it's kind of not spoiling because it's what actually happens? Okay, I'm just going to say it, whatever, if you want, skip this: she didn't accidentally kill her husband?? He accidentally killed himself. Technically? There. I said it. Everything else in the synopsis is true. Boring, but true. She was in handcuffs. The. Whole. Time. Lots of foreshadowing. Pay close attention to all the things in every frame! The movie makes it hard to miss these marks but... There's important things they point out and foreshadow throughout this movie! I looked at the notes I had written and my notes said, "really smart", "so smart" and "very smart!!!". So, looks like I thought the movie was smart. It also looks like I need to stop using the word smart. I must admit, I got a little bored right in the middle. Just character/scene progression was boring, felt unnecessary but it is what it is. It didn't take away, I  was just disinterested during this time! But it caught my attention again and I was drawn in, watching until the end, of course. Definitely a psychological thriller! Kinda dark, a little scary, not super gory. I like that this movie got right to the story line, and moved at a good pace! I hate when there's too much back story and I have to watch 30 minutes of their "everyday home life" before anything happens. This was good, got right to the ponit.

To summarize: if you're someone who doesn't like scary movies but still wants to watch a "scary" movie, this would be a good one to watch! Not jump-scare-y and not gory! Psychological thriller, keeps you guessing, this movie is kind of like following along to a puzzle. I would recommend! I would say 6.6 out of 10 is a pretty fair rating. I might even round it to 7 because it was so "smart"

What should I watch next! What's your favourite scary movie? Did I ask that last time?? Did you answer???
