Monday Manicure Minute: Nicole by OPI "Sand In My Shoe"

Well hello! Nice to see you on this hot and humid Monday! Hope all of you are staying cool. I wish I could tell my hair to chill. This weather doesn't do any favours for my hair. But that is not why we are here!!! We are here for another week of..... Monday Manicure Minute! (Or Triple M if you're feeling saucy.)

This week I bring you another Nicole by OPI polish (I did warn you, it's one of my favourite brands) however this is unlike any polish I have tried before... Now, don't make fun of me, I know I'm behind on this "trend" but I never got around to buying one of these polishes! This week I present to you...

Textured polish!

Now, I know what your thinking. It was my first thought, too. That nail polish is going to be hell to take off. Like glitter polish. I know. I have already braced myself. I will let you know how it goes upon removal.

This polish retails, I believe for about $10 or $11 so, on sale I paid $5 and I decided that was a good enough price for me to buy it and try it! As I mentioned above, I was really excited to try this polish because the textured polishes have been out for a while now, I just have yet to try them!

Upon first stroke on my nails, I was apprehensive as it came out very textured and clumpy (the polish itself was not clumpy, just the amount of grains in the polish made it... lumpy? That's honestly the best way to explain it.. Ha).

Drying time in between each coat wasn't bad. It didn't take nearly as long as I thought it was going to for this polish to dry. I probably waited no longer than 10 minutes in between each coat.

I applied three coats of polish however, the true colour can be achieved with only two coats. (I am just OCD.) Upon first coat, I was disappointed with the colour. It looks really awesome in the bottle! And I just wasn't convinced with one coat. Luckily as my manicure progressed, so did my feelings for the colour/texture.

In conclusion, I do actually enjoy this colour, texture and polish! It works great in the summer as it's a sunny yellow but definitely appropriate for fall or even spring! My boyfriend says it looks like I've stuck my hand into a Cheeto's bag... But I think it's nice! This will, however, end up being one of those "once in a while" polishes as I don't look forward to fighting with my nail polish remover each week. Anyone have a sander I can borrow?
