Drugstore Buys

So today before I left work my boyfriend asked if I could stop on my way home and get those 'Breathe Right Strips' (you know, the ones you put on your nose...) from the drugstore; so naturally I also bought a lipstick, a mascara and a nail polish. ...They were on sale okay?? And I needed those things!! (Who am I trying to convince here again??)

Let's dive in! (Don't judge me, I am forever longing for summer)

From left to right: Mascara VOLUM'EXPRESS by Maybelline / essie nail polish in Sand Tropez / Kate lipstick in shade 102
Whenever I enter a magical Shoppers Drug Mart I always leave with more things than I came for. Always. Today my mission was to simply stop there and grab Breathe Right Strips but it is too hard to say no when all the items you currently need are on sale. (Yes, all three of these items were on sale!! Which is good and bad...)

Price: $9.99

So I probably stood in front of the mascara display for a solid 10 minutes before I finally made a decision as to which one I was going to purchase next. I really like to try and switch it up by buying a different brand/formula/brush shape every time I need a new mascara. I was really torn between this one and the Maybelline ONEbyONE VOLUM'EXPRESS mascara. The reason I ended up choosing this one was the brush. On the mascara I currently have the bristles are plastic and it just doesn't pack on the volume/thickness that I like. It doesn't matter how many coats I would do. Which I guess would actually make it a good mascara as it never clumped or came off in chunks... But that's not what I want out of a mascara! So instead, I went for the curved brush with the softer bristles (I guess these ones are still technically plastic? Synthetic? Regardless...) I have also heard really great things about this mascara so I decided to give it a go! Side story: I ran out of my last mascara so I used a stand-in until I had a chance to buy a new one (I'm telling you, I use mascara until there is NOTHING left in that bottle). So the mascara I had lying around was waterproof. I never buy or wear waterproof mascara (and before you ask why I bought it then, I did not. It was gifted to me!) but it was the only mascara around and I thought 'it can't be that bad...' Boy was I wrong. I used this stand-in mascara for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and today (Thursday) and I still have mascara on from Monday. I have hardly needed to add anymore since then because I can not get it off. I scrubbed my face raw today in the shower so it's much better than it was... But nothing I did would remove all of it! I showered, I washed my face, I scrubbed my face, I used makeup remover... Everything. Anyhow. I checked, checked and triple checked to make sure this mascara was NOT waterproof.

Next item!!

So this fabulous nail polish is essie's Sand Tropez. I have been eyeing this colour for sooo long and I have wanted/needed a nice neutral like this but just never got around to actually buying it. So finally, today, that day came. It was on sale! It was a sign. This will most likely be the colour I use for my Manicure Monday Minute because I am dying to try it on and see what it looks like!! Pictures to come...!!

Now, last but not least, the thing I have been dying to buy: another lipstick

Price: $10.99 $5.99 SALE

Kate lipstick in 102 (shown above). I have been searching for a nice soft pink for so long and just haven't been able to find the right one/one I like. They're either too frosty or too sparkly. Is that the same thing?? These photos make it look very hot pink but when it's worn it actually is much softer on the skin. I also have been wanting to buy one of these Kate lipsticks as a friend of mine is obsessed and says they have the best formula, colour choice and pigmentation... Sold!
