Employment
I currently live in a city where the unemployment rate is at, or terrifying close to, 10%. What does this mean??? It means qualified people/students can't find jobs. People are leaving the city in search of employment elsewhere.
I was a part of that 10% until about an hour ago. I was presented with a job that is full time, Monday to Friday. This is the point in my life where I knew I had to take a deep breath and understand that I can't work part-time in the mall anymore and that I am going to be an adult and need to start working like one. At first, I was hesitant to accept the job. I previously applied to several places in which I would LOVE to be employed with. The problem? 99% of the places/positions I applied to were part time. As a (soon-to-be) 21 year old, with rent, a vehicle and bills to pay, I realized, if I were to accept a position with any of the other companies I applied to, I'd be on the same level as a part-time, minimum wage high schooler. Working 15 hours a week isn't enough to cover my basic necessities anymore (unfortunately). I need to take a deep breath and a big step into the "adult working world." Growing up requires sacrifices and I think the next big one in my life is going to be my free time.
Goodbye Monday to Friday availability.... Hello Saturday and Sunday's only!
